Sayers - Leederville

The TBS members had breakfast at Sayers today, which is located on 224 Carr Pl, Leederville. I'm not sure if one is called an early riser for waking up so early on a Saturday morning and drove all the way to Leederville for breakfast. But I'm glad we did, cos by the time we finished our meals, the place was packed and there was a queue outside. The place itself is small, but they sort of turned the alley next to the building into a dining area as well, which was where our table was. I actually liked our table, and there was a family sitting next to ours: husband and wife with their ohhhh soooo adorable son, James. Not that we talked to them, we just spied on them, we are busy body, enough said. Chow-Chow particularly likes this kind of spying and eavesdropping thing, probably to satisfy her curiosity.

For drinks, both Chow-Chow and Miss FDQ ordered mocha, the difference being Miss FDQ had her mocha skinny while Chow-Chow had hers "fat" (if there is such a thing). But hmmm...that doesnt actually explain their physique, if you're wondering..errr...kinda..

Stewie & I ordered french hot chocolate, which I forgot to add "soy" on Stewie's when I was ordering..I should have known better, considering she's a soy freak.

For the meals, each of us ordered a different dish. Stewie wanted the same thing as Chow-Chow, but we managed to convince her to try something else so we can have more photos on our blog.

Miss FDQ had the wagyu beef sausage with baked egg, oven roasted tomato, spring onion & cheddar open omellete, and lemon scented rocket

Chow-Chow ordered the Bubble and squeek cake with fried eggs, bacon, rosemary scented tomato, and sourdough toast

Stewie had the Cumin cod cake with poached egg, rosemary scented tomato, toasted ciabatta, wilted spinach, and hollandaise

I had the potato rosti with poached eggs, bacon, onion jam, and lemon scented wilted spinach.

Overall, we all loved our food, portion was of the right size, presentation was fancy, taste even fancier, not a single flaw in our opinion. Wouldnt mind coming back again :)

I always forget the name and the price of each food that we order, so I took the photo of the menu :)

Ambience was nice and rather comfy, tho it was quite windy today :)

French hot chocolate. It was really cute because you were supposed to pour the chocolate chips into the milk. I wonder if that's how they do it in France??

Miss FDG's Wagyu beef sausage. According to Miss FDQ, the baked egg was very filling, but lovely nonetheless.

The potato rosti was awesome, although I reckoned the bottom was a bit burnt.

Stewie's cumin cod cake, which she thought was a bit fishy, but the crumb was superb and Stewie eats anything, so she can't really complain.

Chow-Chow's bubble and squeek cake.

Jacs - Apple Cross

What best to end our meals other than to have, desserrttt....!! but Vu's doesnt have any appealing dessert... so we were planning to go to Guchee as chowchow suggested, unfortunately we'r late and the place was closing so randomly we went to Jacs.

Miss FDQ was there once to have breakfast which in her opionion nothing special but the dessert are nice!
We were quite lucky coz by the looks of it they were closing (9 past, the time we arrived)we were literally the last customer of the day (you know that annoying bunch of people who never leaves when the shop suppose to be closed)

we only order 2 dessert which take forever to make
Miss Petite (In distress): "Omg!! When is our food gonna come.."
Chow chow (gourmet guru): "It's shouffle dudee... !!do you know how long it take to make shouffle!?"
Miss Petite(Being a B****h): "I don't care! Im a customer."
Miss Stewie and Miss FDQ: "Let's watch this, popcorn??"

Anyhoo, the passionfruit shouffle is nice, it looks amazing... taste.... with cream *bold italic underline that* is quite nice otherwise it's just sour and fluffy with consistency of beaten egg white (foam).

The Chocolate caramel is a beauty!! Unbeatable classic of warm moist chocolate cake with Gooey caramel and chocolate sauce centre than oozes out from the inside, served with vanila ice cream... absolute comfort food.. nothing like classic dessert... everyone loves it. Nuff said.

(plus for not a sweet fan like myself, it's quite light and not so rich. Even the chocolate sauce... which means not sickening and must mean it is a not-so-guilty-pleasure *We'd like to think anyway*=D)

Jacs - dim room feels romantic and cozy- chowchow want a house like this *hint hint*
Chocolate caramel something something
Gooey caramel and chocolate sauce centre - heaveennnnn .......
Look at that soft fluffy cloud-like shouffle, divine....

Vu's - Canning Hwy

G’day my fellow food buddies or anyone else who happen to bump into this blog God bless you for reading , lolss… So today we had dinner at Vu’s, just a Vietnamese restaurant around the corner at canning bridge area near cake’s delight, next to nando’s n thai corner which I’m sure for whoever there in Perth must know!

Anyway… the food is to be frank nothing speciall… but okay, quite nice.. but to come for a second  time, errr maybe nott… We prefers other Vietnamese restaurant… The Food is not very Vietnamese, being a Vietnam restaurant, it’s lack of that vietnames tanginess, sweetness and sourness and that zinc if you know what I mean… It’s just lack of authenticity. They don’t even have broken rice, (orrrr I just wasn’t reading the menu carefully, since chow chow make somebody with walking difficulties to walk such a distance from carpark to the restaurant..=’’’(((( )

So we ordered the bird nest, not really a bird nest it’s deep fried crispy noodle shaped like a bowl, on top are prawns n veges in wat’s seems like oyster sauce..like it sounds, it is quite nice… but pretty ok, nothing wow or spectacular no fireworks at the background …

then the chilli squid… which sauce is exactly like the prawns’ ( except with many many more sprinkling cut chilli), with same vege as well, is pleasant but nothing to get overly excited about…

then the green curry which miss Stewie most look forward too (curry fetish)not bad… nice… the gravy is just the right consistency, not to thick, not too runny… but plain looking, other member say it look quite sad, inside there’s only chicken and onion, on top 2 snowpeas, sprinkled with exactly 3 cut chilis on top, that’s it!!

Then we have the roast pork (it’s probably the best dish of the day for most of the TBS member, expect stewie who is sticking with her curry all the way!)the roast pork is GOOD.. it taste exactly like the roast pork you get in broken rice, but in plenty amount! With sauce..
one word… YUMMM

Oh, I must, on behalf of TBS member make a mark about the rice, The portion is so little!!! 3 portion is a medium bowl of rice…  If u eat lots or really starving or just plain greedy, u need 3 people portion all for yourself. But that being said we didn’t even finish ours…, we just like to make a fuss and complain about things *hahaha*

So, in a nut Shell

In Stewie’s opinion
Restaurant Rating: 7/10 – for being decent, nothing spectacular, nothing worth coming back for
Ambience: 7/10- again, not bad, nothing to get excited about
Service: 8/10 - what more can you ask for? The waiters attend to you and friendly, nuff said
Food: 7/10 – average-average, pleasant
Everything as it should be nothing less, NOTHING MORE

SO NOW Let’s Feast the eyes and let your own imaginary taste bud to judge =D

Afternoon tea @ Cafe Hyatt

After having tried their lunch and dinner buffet, the TBS members decided to give their afternoon tea buffet a try. It's more of a semi-buffet style with free-flow sparkling wine, tea and coffee. Finger sandwiches were ala table-serving and sweet varieties were buffet style. Didnt get to try all of them though as we were all stuffed to the brim by the end of the session. To cut things short before I go on and on and on about the food, let's cleanse our eyes with photos!!! XD

Array of finger sandwiches

sparkling wine

Left to right: lemon meringue, some-berries cheesecake; strawberry start; profiteroles; mango cheesecake; pavlova; fruits

From top: Peach cake, chooc layered cake with choc ganache, almond choc cake (if im not mistaken)

Some jelly-shots; choc mousse; tiramisu and some other forgot-their-name-cuz-i-didnt-try =P

TBS fav station! Scones, waffles, ice creams, sticky date pudding, vol au vents with mushroom & cream, puffs, filo sheets with savoury fillings, mini savoury muffins

Introducing the TBS members (clockwise): Miss S, Miss P, FDQ, Chow chow

cute lil preserves served on each tables.

Overall, foods were impressive. Few hits and misses (oh....i LURVEEEE this phrase). Carrot & cucumber sandwich needs more butter as it was a tad dry to my liking. Did i mention beforehand i love my butter? *hug butter possesively* Oh and the scones, goooooooooooood although will be better if it was warmer. Avo & prawn and egg & julienne carrot sandwiches were top notch. The TBS likey!!

And before i forget, there's stg worth mentioning about vol au vents. Although FDQ finds their VAV brilliant, she was told Chow Chow makes wayyyy better VAV. CC, now u owe me a tray of VAV, i dont care!!! The cute lil' filo pastries were delicious as well. CC helped herself with 53860385 helpings (well, i lost count.. =P ).

Cakes....well well, where should I start with? Let's just say their cakes were norm. Nothing to shout about. In fact I find most (99%) of the cakes were from their lunch buffet session. Okay, did i miss out anything here? Ahh, the ice creams...they go best with the hot waffles. Speaking of waffles, Miss P reckons the waffle we had was a bit gosong(?) a.k.a. burnt but no complaints from me tho cuz' I like it that way. Haha.

Forgot to ask the rest of the TBS members for their ratings but I personally would give:
Food - 7/10 (butter please!)
Ambience - 8/10
Service - 9/10 (way better than their lunch and dinner sessions)

Let's end this post with a photo of Miss S's poor leg. She gets to be served like a princess throughout the whole session due to her...hmm..walking difficulty.

Signing off with much love,
FDQ *runs to hug her butter*

Miss Stewie, the member with *cough* walking *cough* difficulties *cough*

Toast @ East Perth

ello people!!!! Chow chow is blogging 2day so pls bear with my singlish :) so after a VERY early morning call (barging into my room) from miss Petite on a Saturday we headed down to East perth ( miss petite driving as usual) to try out Toast for brekkie. Upon arrival the place was packed n it was only 8.30am aren't ang mohs supposed to be still in bed ar??? anw we finally got a table n miss Petite went for her ordering duties: Poached eggs and ham on english muffins with Hollandaise sauce AND Corn fritters with bacon and maple syrup for me. And for drinks Miss Petite got hot choc n i got freshly squeezed OJ.
                                                                  Self service loh....
OJ n Hot choc

The poached eggs was done perfectly look at the gooey yolk yummmm..... but Miss Petite commented that the yolk was a bit fishy and being the eggspert i agreed......
The bacon was awsome fried just nicely not too crisp/ gosong/ chao ta and the corn was sweet n juicy. The maple syrup really goes well with the saltiness of the bacon and the potion size was just right.... Overall a very satisfying brekkie....
2 thumbs up!!!!
Look at the beautiful view and some one have to spoil it with......
this: miss Petite being the NARCIST demanded that i take a photo of her
So after brekkie we drove to the city to get matching bracelets from Pandora. The butterfly can actually be joined together it's a new design from Pandora and when u split it u get this
                                                                Friends Forever
Miss FDQ: U see what i mean or not???

afternoon tea @ Peninsula Tea Garden

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo! This is Miss FDQ reporting from erm...her sofa *unglam* It's better to upload something (well, at least SOMETHING) before Miss Petite and Chow chow continue to rub salt into my wound for missing out all the foodie goodie in Broome. Thanks, guys! I taste very, VERY salty now. TQVM.

FDQ's mommy is in Perth! *yeay* Brought the mom and sis to The Peninsula Tea Garden @ Maylands few days back for a mother-daughters bonding session. FDQ has been to TPTG once and it was quite a pleasant experience. There were a few hits and misses this time around. Staff were very attentive, however food came out very sloooooowlyyyyyyyy. Prolly due to the hot weather, there were a lot of annoying flies surrounding us as if we haven't bathe for days. The wait + flies = grouchy FDQ.

Overall, the foods were pleasant (not the best yet). Finger sandwiches were so-so. Scones were soft and flurry. Oh, and the clotted cream! Yummmm... Only get to try the cupcakes (as all of us were full). It was top notch. Buttery, soft and melt in your mouth. Well, the only complaint (besides the annoying flies. pftt..) was the tea-stains in the tea pots. *OCD mode on*

Anyway, shall let the photos do the talking now.
